For a decade, Unreal Engine has been steadily gaining popularity among 3D artists and designers. Once perceived as ‘only a game engine’, it has evolved into a versatile tool used in films and TV, automotive and transport, architecture and real estate, education and learning, and much more. Its adaptability across such diverse industries is truly inspiring.
Unreal Engine is not just a game engine, it’s a platform that can turn your imagination into reality. With a global community of millions, it’s a place where creativity thrives. These unique features are why we chose Unreal Engine for Emperia Creator Tools.
Our very own 3D artist, Tomas Gavelis, has been working with Unreal Engine daily for quite some time after diving deeper into the realm of environment art and 3D Design across industries, so we had to ask for his thoughts on UE.
What drew you to Unreal Engine?
“As a 3D artist with experience with other 3D programs, I thoroughly enjoy working with Unreal Engine, which is a more rewarding environment. The possibility of walking around the spaces you create gives me more motivation to be creative in the first place. The latest features of UE5 meant that the ability to develop AAA games is now within everyone’s reach. Constant updates and new features let you achieve stunning results that you can see immediately. Support from the community and Epic Games itself is helping you every step to overcome issues and learn new things.”

Don’t just take our word for why Unreal Engine is the choice Engine for all possibilities. We also caught up with our friends at Sawhorse Productions, as well as Environment Artists Zach Voaden and Alex Domingo.
Sawhorse Productions is a creative agency and production company that creates multi-platform content and interactive experiences with clients ranging across industries, from Netflix, Roblox to Amazon and Meta.
What do you think of Unreal Engine and Emperia Creator Tools?
“Unreal Engine is extremely powerful and has many use cases across multiple industries. The main reason I use the engine is its highly robust tool base, real-time focus, and highly scalable tools from native and external markets. The creator tools set unlocks ultimate efficiency with fully procedural workflows which are fully integrated into the engine. Enabling endless possibilities for creation both from an Art and technical standpoint.”
With an impressive portfolio and experience within 3D design and production, Alex Domingo, Environment Artist at Sawhorse Productions, has used various tools throughout his career but claims that Unreal Engine has been a prominent contributor to his continued development within his field.
Why do you use Unreal Engine instead of other editors/engines?
“As a 3D artist specializing in environmental art, Unreal Engine is probably the most essential tool I use today. Over the years, Unreal Engine has slowly replaced other offline renderers in my workflow, especially in architectural visualization and product design projects. With the implementation of Path Tracing and Lumen lighting systems, I have completely switched to Unreal Engine for all my visualization projects. The speed and versatility of Unreal Engine allows me to execute changes and deliver results faster.”

Are others in your industry working with Unreal Engine?
“Although the 3DS Max and V-Ray systems will always be a powerhouse for architectural visualization work, Unreal Engine has become more prominent among my peers. I believe that Unreal Engine will continue to gain momentum across all industries.”

Where does Creator Tools fit in?
“The Creator Tools developed by Emperia is an example of why Unreal Engine is quickly gaining traction for retailers looking to innovate their online shopping experience. The Creator Tools plugin is a comprehensive design and development package that allows 3D Artists to create an interactive online shopping experience inside Unreal Engine and publish the final result online. The tools allow artists to handle lighting, foliage, product interaction and procedural tasks inside Unreal Engine, using familiar and easy-to-navigate tools. It is the gamification of building digital interactive shopping experiences and an excellent alternative to existing pixel streaming services. I am truly excited for the future of Unreal Engine and how it will revolutionize the various industries that use it.”
